LFGF Batter (Vegan Friendly)

Easy and delicious Gluten, Egg and Dairy free Batter — perfect for coating chicken, fish, or vegetables.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup of LFGF All-Purpose Plain Flour
  • 1 teaspoon of LFGF All-Purpose Plain Flour
  • 2 tablespoons of LFGF All-Purpose Chicken Seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon Gluten Free baking powder
  • 1 ¼ cups of water
  • Desired amount of chicken or fish fillets (or vegetables)

Method

  1. Place ¾ cup LFGF All-Purpose Plain Flour and All-Purpose Chicken Seasoning into a bowl.
  2. Mix 1 cup of water very slowly into the dry mix, then blend until the batter is smooth (add the rest of the water if needed).
  3. Please note, the batter will be a bit thicker than wheat batter.
  4. Cover and stand for approximately 1 hour.
  5. Just before frying, beat through ½ teaspoon of baking powder (gluten free) and 1 teaspoon of LFGF All-Purpose Plain Flour.
  6. Add another ½ tablespoon of water and mix through.
  7. Fry in hot oil until golden brown.

Handy Hints

  • LFGF All-Purpose Chicken Seasoning can be used as a coating on chicken, fish, tofu, or added to tortilla dough.
  • Store LFGF All-Purpose Chicken Seasoning in an airtight container for up to 12 months.
